Residence Handbook

The Residence Handbook covers four primary topics:

In this Handbook, the following terms are used:

Accommodation, Residence Accommodation, Room, Suite: the physical space a Resident is allowed to occupy and have access to in Residence as identified by the Resident’s Booking in Colleague and eRezLife.

Additional Fees: charges payable for damages, maintenance, cleaning, or administrative costs.

Allocation, Suite Allocation: the process of assigning an Accommodation to an Applicant or Resident

Applicant, Applicants: a person who has completed and submitted an Application

Booking: details regarding a Resident’s Accommodation for a specific Term as specified in Colleague and eRezLife, including Contract Start and End Dates, Suite Type, Residence Fees, etc.

Campus Living, Campus Living Office: the department of RRC Polytech that administers all aspects of RRC Polytech’s Residence program.

Colleague: RRC Polytech’s software database concerning Residents.

Common Areas: Residence areas shared with other Residents such as hallways, stairwells, lounges, kitchen, elevators, laundry rooms, and the lobby to which the Resident has rightful access and shared responsibility.

Contract Dates, Accommodation Contract Dates, Contract Term: The dates in which a Resident has a booking with for Residence at RRC Polytech

Deposit: The payment made by the Resident during the application process to reserve an Accommodation in Residence.

eRezLife: the Campus Living software database concerning Residents, works in conjunction with Colleague.

Fees: any charges payable to RRC Polytech by the Resident.

Fines: any additional charges payable to RRC Polytech by the Resident, as a result of a Contract violation

Guest: any non-Resident accompanied, invited, or otherwise admitted to the Residence building by a Resident.

Manager Of Campus Living: Represents RRC Polytech as the administrator for all Residency aspects.

Move-In Date: the earliest day of a Resident’s Contract that a Resident can move into their Accommodation without having to pay for extra nights.

Move-Out Date: the latest day of a Resident’s Contract that a Resident can remain in their Accommodation before having to pay extra nights.

Red River College Polytechnic, RRC Polytech, College: Represented Campus Living, RRC Polytech is the owner of the Residence and has the power and authority to enforce all aspects of a Residency.

Residence: building operated by Campus Living for the purpose of providing Accommodation to Students.

Residence Contracts, Residence Contract Term, Campus Living Contract, Contract: refers the dates and policies that a Resident has agreed to in order to live in Residence.

Residence Fees: charges required to be paid by a Resident for the Accommodation.

Resident Assistant, RA: a Resident who acts as a representative of Campus Living while living in Residence.

Sanctions: The result of a disciplinary action as decided by the Manager of Campus Living.

You, Your, Resident, Residents: the person who agrees to and is bound by the Contract with RRC Polytech for a Residence Accommodation.

RRC Polytech campuses are located on the lands of Anishinaabe, Ininiwak, Anishininew, Dakota, and Dené, and the National Homeland of the Red River Métis.

We recognize and honour Treaty 3 Territory Shoal Lake 40 First Nation, the source of Winnipeg’s clean drinking water. In addition, we acknowledge Treaty Territories which provide us with access to electricity we use in both our personal and professional lives.
