BRANDING AND SIGNAGE

RRC Polytech will begin to offer programming out of the South Winnipeg Campus beginning in Fall 2026.

As previously communicated, 19 current MITT programs will continue under RRC Polytech, ensuring continuity of training in key sectors. Students who are currently enrolled in MITT programs and are in progress will be supported through to graduation with their MITT credentials.

This entire transition is being implemented in a phased way to support continuity for students and staff, while providing clarity for future learners and the broader public.

A phased branding transition is also underway as part of this work. This will include:

  • Information Night materials reflecting both RRC Polytech and MITT branding
  • New RRC Polytech exterior signage updates in the coming weeks
  • Interior signage and wayfinding updates over time

During this transition period, both MITT and RRC Polytech branding may be visible as systems, signage, and materials are updated.

RRC Polytech – MITT Transition Update April 8, 2026

April 8, 2026

RRC Polytech and MITT have been working diligently to complete an academic program review of all MITT programs as we work collaboratively on the transitional process to RRC Polytech.

Our institutions have come together to do this in-depth review over the last few weeks, to finalize the adoption of programs for the fall 2026/2027 academic year. The primary goal of the academic program review was to preserve training capacity across key industries in Manitoba, utilizing a student-centred lens.

INFORMATION SHARED PREVIOUSLY

This work builds on information shared in previous updates. RRC Polytech will permanently operate the Henlow Bay and Fultz Boulevard buildings, establishing an RRC Polytech South Winnipeg Campus to continue serving learners and the community. RRC Polytech and MITT will work together to maintain operations at the Pembina Highway building during the transition, including preserving the on‑site daycare. RRC Polytech will also continue delivering high school vocational programming in partnership with school divisions.

Further updates on the transition of MITT programs and operations to RRC Polytech will continue to be shared as this information becomes available at rrc.ca/MITT

We acknowledge that this transition has brought uncertainty. We thank everyone in our community, and all staff and students at both MITT and RRC Polytech, for their patience as we completed the necessary academic review.

RRC Polytech – MITT Transition Update March 27, 2026

March 27, 2026

As select MITT programs and operations transition to RRC Polytech, academic and operational teams continue reviewing programs and confirming future delivery plans, guided by a student‑centred focus to ensure learners receive clear information and the support needed to complete their programs successfully.

We know that the results from the academic program review, which will determine which programs will be transitioned to RRC Polytech, will provide critical information to students, staff, and industry and community partners across our province. We are ensuring that this information is shared in as comprehensive and efficient a way as possible. We expect to provide the academic program review results the week of April 7, 2026.

Our primary goal of the academic program review is to preserve training capacity across key industries in Manitoba. The academic program review involves experts from both institutions working together to finalize the process for:

  • Adopting and preserving unique programs currently offered at MITT with robust industry and student demand;
  • Preserving provincial training capacity through the delivery of aligned or equivalent MITT and RRC Polytech programming with strong industry and student demand, and;
  • Supporting the successful completion of current students within programs previously identified for cessation by MITT.

Together, we are ensuring that high-demand training that is critical to Manitoba’s labour market needs will continue to be delivered across our province.

Finalizing the program review is a critical step in this process and remains our shared priority. We recognize that finalizing the program review will ensure students receive clear answers about next steps regarding future program delivery, and it allows RRC Polytech to move forward with the next phases of planning.

Further updates on the transition of MITT programs and operations to RRC Polytech will continue to be shared as this information becomes available.

RRC Polytech and MITT Transition Update – March 13, 2026

March 13, 2026

RRC Polytech and Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology (MITT) continue to work collaboratively to coordinate the transition of select programs and operations, with a student-centred focus to ensure current students can successfully complete their programs.

It has now been confirmed that RRC Polytech will permanently operate MITT’s Henlow Bay and Fultz Boulevard buildings to establish an RRC Polytech South Winnipeg Campus. This will ensure these facilities continue to serve learners and the broader community. RRC Polytech and MITT will also work together to ensure the continued operation of the Pembina Highway building during the transition period and preservation of the daycare on site.

RRC Polytech will preserve and deliver high school vocational programming, in partnership with school divisions, recognizing the critical importance of early exposure to skilled trades, emerging technologies, and experiential learning.

These programs give students valuable opportunities to explore different career paths, build confidence, and move smoothly into postsecondary education or the workforce. Our goal is not only to maintain this work, but to continue growing our partnerships with school divisions and expand access to high quality vocational programming for high school students across the province.

RRC Polytech and MITT continue to work collaboratively through a comprehensive program review and expect to have results of that review available in the coming weeks. Information continues to be provided as it becomes available at rrc.ca/mitt

MITT Open House event postponed

February 17, 2026

As announced on January 28, 2026 the Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology (MITT) is currently in a transition period, winding down operations over the coming year.

Changes to the post-secondary landscape in Manitoba

January 28, 2026

The following update was shared with RRC Polytech staff and students this morning from Fred Meier, RRC Polytech President and CEO.

Over the last two years, RRC Polytech has provided updates to our community about the Canada-wide changes to immigration that have impacted international students and language training and have created challenges for post-secondary institutions across Manitoba.

Earlier this month, the Province of Manitoba shared an update on how these decisions have disrupted the post-secondary sector both financially and operationally. These changes have led to decline in international student enrolment at post-secondary institutions across Manitoba – including RRC Polytech.

Today, the Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology (MITT) provided an update to their community.  Due to changes that continue to impact enrolment, they are no longer financially sustainable and have been left with the difficult decision to formally wind down operations over the course of the next year.

Over the next year, there will be a period of transition where RRC Polytech will work with MITT and the Province of Manitoba on a comprehensive review of MITT programming to determine which programs will be transferred to RRC Polytech.

There is some unique programming at MITT and there is also overlap between programs at both institutions. This MITT program review will prioritize students and labour market needs and will determine which programs may be preserved and transferred to RRC Polytech, and which programs may no longer be offered.

The most important commitment we all share is to all students and their academic success.

We are all working collaboratively to support students and ensure they can continue to finish their programs. For some, this may mean they are graduating with a MITT credential, and others may transfer to RRC Polytech and graduate here.

The information we are sharing today regarding MITT reaffirms the impact that these federal changes have had within our province. It reinforces the importance of our continued advocacy efforts for talented international students who want to pursue post-secondary studies at RRC Polytech.

We will continue to provide updates as this transition of MITT programs to RRC Polytech progresses.

Fred Meier,
President and CEO
