Civil Engineering Technology

Learn to design the systems and infrastructures that fuel our economy and foster growth.

Build versatile skills and train for a career as an engineering technologist in one of several specialized fields: architectural engineering, environmental engineering, municipal engineering, structural engineering or geomatics technology.

Civil engineering technologists provide technical support and services to engineers, architects, scientists and other professionals. The Civil Engineering Technology program covers a broad range of content, allowing you to develop a diverse skillset with a multitude of career and employment options.

All students in the program share a common first year in which they build fundamental skills, develop theoretical knowledge and use state-of-the-art software and equipment to explore different aspects of civil engineering. Students then choose one of five specialization programs to pursue until graduation.

With work opportunities integrated into the curriculum – including two paid co-op terms – you gain valuable experience, build your industry network and prepare yourself for a career after graduation.

Experience a Polytechnic Education

Full-time Delivery: Something New Every Term

In the first year of this program, you will develop foundational knowledge from all areas of the Civil Engineering Technology program. Afterwards, you will pursue versatile skills, specialized knowledge and potential career paths in a specialization program of your choice.

TERM 1

Develop fundamental math, science, communication and computer skills and explore surveying and computer drafting programs.

TERM 2

Build on your knowledge and explore more advanced topics in math, science, communications, surveying and computer drafting.

TERM 3

Gain valuable work experience and industry connections through a paid co-op placement. Upon successful completion of your first year, choose your specialization.

Term 4

Begin training in your chosen specialization: Architectural/Engineering Technology, Environmental Engineering Technology, Geomatics Technology, Municipal Engineering Technology or Structural Engineering Technology.

TERM 5

Complete a paid co-op placement focused on your specialization to further your work experience, meet potential employers and expand your industry connections.

TERM 6

Deepen your knowledge, explore applied research opportunities and graduate from your chosen specialization.
