Environmental Engineering Technology is a specialization program. Students interested in this program must apply to and complete the first common year of the Civil Engineering Technology program.

The Environmental Engineering Technology program focuses on the stewardship of environmental resources, including water resources management and protection, water supply and treatment, wastewater collection and treatment, soil remediation, solid waste management, air quality, GIS and remote sensing, project management, environmental management and health and safety. Through this program, you will gain the technical, research and management skills needed for a successful career in environmental engineering technology.
As part of your RRC Polytech education, you will gain crucial industry experience through two co-op work terms. These work terms will help you build relevant work experience, integrate experiential learning and create connections with industry partners and employers.
After completing Civil Engineering Technology’s first year (Terms 1 to 3), you can choose to specialize in Environmental Engineering Technology. Through this program, you will develop the versatile technical and professional skills needed for a successful career in environmental engineering technology.
Develop your knowledge by focusing on the potential sources and effects of pollutants and contaminants and designing an environmental sampling program.
Complete a paid co-op placement focused on Environmental Engineering Technology to further develop your work experience, meet potential employers and expand your network.
Integrate your work experience and combine software modelling with hydraulic/hydrologic principles to design water treatment plants and engage environmental issues. Explore applied research opportunities.
