What is the sign-in procedure?

We suggest arriving early on the first day of camp (before 8:45 AM), with campers accompanied by their guardians. Families may allow campers to sign themselves into the program and do not need to accompany them to the sign-in location.

What is the sign-out procedure?

Campers will only be released to authorized persons for pick-up at the end of day unless that camper has self-sign-out permission.

You will need to indicate who is authorized to pick up your camper(s) during the registration process. If you wish to add or remove authorized pick-up names after registration, please email youthcamps@rrc.ca with your changes.

Those who are authorized to pick up campers must present a government-issued ID to camp staff at the end of the day for that camper to be released.

Can campers self-sign out?

Campers who are 12 and over can sign themselves out at the end of the day if permitted to do so. If you would like to give your camper(s) permission to sign themselves out, indicate this when prompted during registration.

Leave Authorization forms will also be available throughout the week at drop-off and pick-up for families to sign in-person if they choose to do so.

Campers with self-sign out permission can be dismissed from the sign-out location at 4 PM each day.

What if I’m late for drop-off?

Campers leave the drop-off area to their program areas promptly at 9 AM each morning.

Families must contact the Camp Supervisor by phone at 431.373.3491 to inform them if a camper will be arriving late. Campers who arrive after 9 AM should go to the designated drop-off area to sign-in, and Camp Leaders will escort your camper to the rest of the group.

What if I’m late for pick-up?

The following rules will apply when campers are picked up later than 5 PM:

  • The first time a guardian is late for pick-up, after camp privileges will be revoked and campers must be picked up at 4 PM for the remainder of the week.
  • The second time a guardian is late for pick-up, the camper(s) will be withdrawn from the program. No refund will be given.

Campers who are not picked up by 5 PM will be relocated to the Security Service Centre where they will be supervised by Security Staff until picked up for the following locations:

  • Notre Dame Campus – Building C (C115)
  • Exchange District Campus – The Roblin Centre, Room P106

What if I need to pick up my child early?

If a camper needs to leave early, families should inform the camp staff during morning drop-off, or by calling the Camp Supervisor at 431.373.3491 at least 2 hours prior to pick-up.

Families picking campers up early should go to the agreed pick-up location at the agreed-upon pick-up time. Families will be required to present ID and sign their camper out from there.

What if my child will be absence for camp?

If your child will be absent from camp, please notify camp staff by emailing youthcamps@rrc.ca or by calling 431.373.3491. If staff are not notified, families will be contacted if a child is absent from camp for the day.

Health and Safety

My child has a medical condition; can they still come to camp?

Yes – we want your child to have a positive and safe experience at RRC camp, so please indicate any medical conditions on the registration form. It is important that we are aware of any condition that may affect your child’s safety. If your child has a medical condition or if you have additional concerns, please contact the Supervisor, Youth Initiatives at youthcamps@rrc.ca or 431.373.3491.

What happens if my child gets sick or injured?

Our health centre is staffed by a registered nurse to address medical issues. Additionally, camp supervisors and security staff are first aid certified. Parents/guardians will be contacted in case of illness or injury.

During camp registration, you will be asked to consent to medical attention in case of emergency.

What measures are in place for camper safety?

We prioritize camper safety by enforcing a Camper Code of Conduct to maintain a safe and respectful environment. This Code is agreed upon by all families during camp registration and discussed with campers on their first day of camp.

All camp staff undergo Criminal Record Checks, Child Abuse Registry Checks, and complete comprehensive training in safety, conflict resolution and youth engagement.

Do you allow Inclusion Staff to accompany my child to camp?

Yes – if your child has regular inclusion support, they are welcome to join our camp program. All Inclusion Staff must pre-register by emailing youthcamps@rrc.ca at least two weeks prior to the start of camp. Inclusion Staff must provide the following documents upon registration:

If you need assistance arranging Inclusion Support Staff, let us know so we can explore alternate accommodations.

Do you accommodate children with special needs or disabilities?

Yes – please contact our Youth Initiatives Supervisor at youthcamps@rrc.ca to let us know how we can best accommodate your child.

What if the weather is poor, will you still go outside?

If weather conditions are safe, we will spend some time outdoors. Our staff monitors air quality and humidex levels, and if they become too high, we will move activities into the gym. Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather.

Who teaches your camps?

We have Camp Leaders supporting campers throughout the entire camp. Our themed camps are led by professional educators with teaching experience. All instructors and staff have completed required background checks.

What is the staff to camper ratio?

We have two Camp Leaders per cohort of 15-18 campers.
