The After School Leaders – Biotechnology program will provide young learners with hands-on opportunities to explore fun facts of science and biotechnology. Students will perform activities like DNA extraction from fruits, creating elephant toothpaste and making bath bombs. Students will learn to understand the different facts and phenomena of science in a fun environment.
Experiments will be done in a laboratory setting where students will learn to follow safety procedures and use different lab equipment. Aside from gaining technical experience, students will develop personal skills like time management, following directions and working in a group — all great additions to a resume. Students will also complete the WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Material Information System) program.
