Through the Healthy Minds Healthy College Initiative, Red River College is working to be a supportive and healthy place to learn and work. Good mental health helps us live the life we want and contribute to a community, while reaching academic and career goals.

Sometimes it’s a struggle for students and staff to maintain good mental health, and when that happens there are supports and resources to assist you.

September 10 World Suicide Prevention Day – RRC is part of the Winnipeg Suicide Prevention Network and will be participating in the annual awareness event at Vimmy Ridge Park. All are welcome.
September 24 Volunteer Information Session – Interested in mental health and looking to get involved on campus? Attend the information session to learn more about fun and supported volunteer opportunities.
October 8 & 9 Movies for Mental Health – Short film screenings and facilitated discussion to create open dialogue about mental health, mental illness and supports on- and off campus.
November 4-8 Thrive week – A week filled with free self-care events and activities. With therapy dog visits, paint night, a lunch hour comedy show and much more, there’s something for everyone. Watch for the full calendar, published in October.
January 30 Let’s Talk Day– RRC participates in the national anti-stigma campaign by starting supportive conversations and building awareness of resources.
February 5 RRC welcomes former NHL forward Jordin Tootoo to speak about Aiming for Wellness Together. In this talk, Tootoo discusses his own personal experiences, destigmatizing the important conversation around addiction recovery, mental health, and suicide prevention, all while sharing a hopeful message of resilience and understanding.
February 10-14 Anxiety Forums – During this week we host forums featuring local Clinical Psychologists who present strategies for managing anxiety related to college.
