Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, is a major celebration observed around the world and one of the most significant holidays for many South Asian communities. Celebrated according to the Hindu lunar calendar, Diwali falls in October or November each year. In 2026, the main day of Diwali is Sunday, November 8.

Diwali symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. The festival holds different meanings across regions, cultures, and faith traditions, and celebrations vary by family and personal customs. Common traditions include lighting oil lamps (diyas), decorating homes, sharing sweets, gathering with family and friends, and enjoying cultural celebrations.

The RRC Polytech Students’ Association (RRCSA) will once again be marking Diwali with a celebration on campus on November 6. Please visit the RRCSA website for more information.

Wishing everyone who celebrates a Diwali filled with joy, peace, prosperity, and light.

Happy Diwali!
