Assistive Technology / Alternate Format Material
The use of assistive technology and alternate format material are academic accommodations available to students with documented disabilities, in order to provide equal opportunity for students to master the essentials of post-secondary programming. In some cases, certain assistive technologies may be offered to all students to assist in reaching academic goals.
Students should contact Student Accessibility Services to determine eligibility for assistive technology and alternate format services. Once eligibility is determined, students are referred to the Assistive Technologist to collaboratively develop an individualized assistive technology and/or alternate format plan for each student.
Students are encouraged to contact Student Accessibility Services at the time of application to allow for materials and/or technology arrangements to be made prior to the start of a student’s chosen academic program. Depending on when the student is referred and the supports required, there is no guarantee that all materials will be in place prior to the start of classes.
