Filing a traditional divorce can be lengthy and expensive. Easy Forms is a collaborative project between Evans Family Law, our ACE Project Space students, and Business Administration students. Together, they designed, developed, and performed user testing on a web application to make uncontested divorces accessible to anybody who requires one. Our students’ solution takes the user from step one to printable legal papers in a fraction of the traditional time and cost.

Project Term: Winter 2019

Go Oil, a local startup that provides 24/7 on-the-spot oil changes, wanted to recreate their website as their current one was not optimized for multiple cities. BIT and BTM students worked with Go Oil to create a customer database to support their new franchising model. The students assisted in moving the current web site to an updated back-end database and updated the front end design to enable a user experience supporting multiple cities.

The ACE Project Space is proud to congratulate our resident Met students from Maples Collegiate for winning the top prize for the prestigious Ken Spencer Awards!  The first place prize winners will share in the $7,000 award for their work with entrepreneurs in residence at the North Forge Technology Enterprise and ACE Project Space as well as Maples Collegiate.

Learning While Building Real-World Solutions

One key project the students are working on is an exhibition management system for Maples Collegiate. Using BubbleApps, a low-code application development solution, the students are creating an application that families, students, and advisors can use to schedule student exhibitions happening within the Met program. Students learn important skills such as working in an Agile project management environment, object-oriented design, UX/UI patterns and best practices, testing and quality assurance, problem solving, logical thinking, as well as teamwork.

The MyBaby project started as an idea – as one of three finalists in North Forge’s Manitoba Open Innovation Challenge. The goal of the Open Innovation Challenge is to improve childhood literacy and numeracy in Manitoba.
