Red River Grad Is Taking Care of Business

A graduate of the Red River College’s Business?Technology Teacher Education program, Mira has taught at Technical Vocational High School in Winnipeg West End since 1999.

Mira has taught it all at Tec-Voc, from computer and software applications to accounting principles and systems to retailing, promotions and entrepreneurship, and everything in between.  She says her time at RRC prepared her well for the multi-faceted and ever changing world of business.

The Teacher Education department at Red River College is hosting an Information Night for prospective students interested in the Business Education, Industrial Arts and Technical Vocational Teacher Education programs.

Learn about the five-year Integrated, three-year After Degree and one-year Accelerated degree programs that are delivered jointly with The University of Winnipeg. Meet in A-137

Tour Red River College’s Notre Dame Campus, meet current faculty, and learn about how the program prepares students for certified career paths in Manitoba’s middle and secondary schools. We will provide detailed program information and details on how to apply.

Industrial Arts Students Create Musical Instruments in Woodworking Class

Teaching Essentials Program August 2016

19 instructors of the Red River Faculty went back into the classroom in August…as Students! Most participants were new or almost new members of the RRC Staff from all over Southern Manitoba. On the agenda: best practices for teachers of Adult Learners. Most instructors will be enrolling in, or have already enrolled in the Certificate Program. Thanks to Theresa, Judy, Doug and our panels of experts (expert students and expert instructors) for helping all these new instructors to ease their way into the classroom.

Teacher Education Booth, Arborg Career Fair

On September 27, a representative from the Bachelor of Business and Technology – Teacher Education program met with 600 students from grades 7 – 12. The Arborg Career Fair was a great way to promote the program and meet individuals who may one day become the next graduate from The Teacher Education program! Thanks to Justin Pasosky from Teacher Education for taking the time to pass on his experiences. Reminder to applicants for the 2017 enrollment: get your application in by December 1 to be considered for awards and scholarships. Spots are limited to 15 students!

Interested in teaching Business and Technology courses such as accounting, marketing, entrepreneurship, management, website design, digital photography/video, animation and other productivity software?  This program begins August 29th, 2016

Perhaps you would like a major in Industrial Arts Technology teaching construction, manufacturing, electronics, graphics arts, woodworking, drafting, photography and many other applied technologies? This program begins August 29th, 2016

Are you a Red Seal journeyperson?  You could have a career as a Technical Vocational  teacher in many of the trades areas taught within Manitoba high schools. This program begins August 15th, 2016

Red River College Teacher Education students, Jessica Lister and Charlene Turcotte, were recognized as 2016 Manitoba Teachers’ Society Bursary recipients. Roland Stankevicius from Manitoba Teachers’ Society made the presentation at the Annual Coop Teacher Appreciation Dinner on May 5th, 2016.

RRC Polytech campuses are located on the lands of Anishinaabe, Ininiwak, Anishininew, Dakota, and Dené, and the National Homeland of the Red River Métis.

We recognize and honour Treaty 3 Territory Shoal Lake 40 First Nation, the source of Winnipeg’s clean drinking water. In addition, we acknowledge Treaty Territories which provide us with access to electricity we use in both our personal and professional lives.
