Adding Videos to your Course Content using ShareStream Tool (CIM)

  1. You can use the ShareStream Tool (CIM) to upload a video to anywhere within LEARN you can add text using the HTML editor
    1. If adding content in LEARN click “New”, and “Create a File”

  2. Click “Insert Stuff” within the HTML text editor
  3. Click “ShareStream Tool (CIM)”

  4. Select the video you wish to upload or browse for an existing video
  5. Add any text you wish to include such as a unique title or description, click “Upload”

  6. Depending on the size of the video it may take a while to upload

  7. Once the upload is complete click “Add”

Adding the Course Media / Pick-n-Play

The Course Media / Pick-n-Play is an essential tool within your course to allow you to accept student video submissions as well as to copy videos when you perform a course copy.

  1. Create a module within the course content area of your course to add the Sharestream tools
    1. You may opt to set this module as draft in order to keep it hidden from students
    2. This folder will be helpful as you will need to use the tools to transfer the videos after a course copy
  2. Add the “Sharestream Course Media / Pick-n-Play” by clicking “Add Existing Activities” and “External Learning Tools”

  3. Add “Sharestream Course Media / Pick-n-Play”

Enabling Student Dropbox Video Submissions

  1. Follow the above steps to add the “Course Media / Pick-n-Play” to your course
  2. Click on the “Course Media / Pick-n-Play”
  3. Click the gear icon for the folder settings

  4. Click the 2 sliders beside “Allow students to submit media to the Instructor’s Media Inbox” and “Allow students to submit media from Learning Management System’s assignment tool”Enable Student upload
  5. Create an assignment dropbox in “Assessment”, and “Dropbox”
    1. When applying dropbox settings, you may wish to set it to a text submission dropbox so students do not have to include a file beyond the uploaded video

  6. Students can now upload videos to your “Course Media / Pick-n-play” as well as the dropbox by using the ShareStream Tool (CIM) found within “Insert Stuff”

Copying Videos from one Course to Another

When completing a course copy, you will have to transfer the videos separately if you have used the ShareStream Tool (CIM)

  1. If you copy the course without transferring the video it will not display properly as in this example:

  2. Once you have copied the course click into the “Sharestream Course Media / Pick-n-play” and copy your videos from the previous location using the “Course Media Copy Wizard”

  3. Once successfully copied you will see a confirmation of the videos copied

  4. Returning to the video you will now see that it is displaying properly
