Using Rubrics in LEARN

Using Rubrics in LEARN

There are a number of places you can attach a rubric in LEARN.  In most places you can click through the levels, it will calculate a grade and feedback and you can then apply that grade to the Gradebook. The student can then view the rubric or the grade in the Gradebook.

The rubric tool works best when used with the Dropbox tool.  The Dropbox will allow you to access the rubric from the grader view and you can then select the levels of achievement.  The rubric will then auto transfer those grades and feedback over to the grades and feedback area of the dropbox.  If you are using associations, that grade and feedback will also be automatically transferred to the Gradebook.  This workflow can save you a lot of time, as well as give your students really clear accurate information.

You are able to apply the same rubric to multiple Gradeable items.  If the points of that item aren’t the same as the rubrics, it will convert it automatically for you.

Multiple rubrics are able to be attached to the same gradable item.  When grading in the Gradebook using multiple rubrics, you will select the one that calculates the grade for the student.

In the grader view of the Dropbox, you can access the rubric simply by clicking its name.  You then simply click the select box in each level the student achieved.  If there is pre-programmed feedback it will appear in the score and feedback area.  You can overwrite that feedback or score by clicking the pencil icon in that area.

If you would like to modify a published rubric that has been used in an assessment, you will have to make a copy of that rubric by going to “Assessments”, “Rubrics”, and then click the drop-down menu and then copy.

If you are done using a rubric and want to remove it from your list click the action button beside its name and set its status to “archived”.
