The Youth Recreation Activity Worker program is designed to prepare youth to work with inner city youth to provide healthy recreational activities. This program is a joint initiative of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg and Red River College Polytechnic.
Entrance requirements are determined by the Boys and Girls Club of Winnipeg and will vary depending on funding requirements and advisory committee. Students will be selected using the following criteria:
Prospective students will be required to attend an information session.
Upon acceptance into the program but prior to registration into your practicum placement(s) you will be required to submit the following:
If you have a criminal record you may not be able to complete the program.
If you are listed on a Child Abuse Registry you will not be able to complete the program.
These checks have expiration dates, and should be completed close to your program start date. Further information will be provided.
Courses that are transferable to other programs must be completed with a C+ grade. A Life Skills component of 72 hours must also be completed.

When you have completed all the required courses in this program, be sure to apply for your certificate. Call 204.694.1789 or 1.866.242.7073. When you receive your certificate, you will be invited to participate in either of the College’s semi-annual Graduation ceremonies in June or December.
Effective July 1, 2002, students who obtain a grade point average (GPA) of 3.8 or better will graduate with honours. Honour recipients are allowed one (1) “CR” credit transfer and no course failures within their program of study.
A program GPA of 2.0 (60%) is required to graduate.
