Announcing a bold new path

October 5, 2021

Red River College has legacy of being employer-driven and future-focused. Since our early days responding to a post-depression and post-war world in the 1930s and 40s, to our new reality adapting to a pandemic, we’ve always been an institution where learning mirrors the market.

Today, we’re embracing a new model that fully represents who we’ve always been, who we are today, and who we’re growing into: Red River College Polytechnic.

The term polytechnic is used around the world to identify institutions focused on strategic workforce development. As Manitoba’s polytechnic, our top priority is preparing students to thrive in a rapidly changing world of work. We’re embracing a bold approach that shows our community and industry partners we’re not only ready to meet rapidly shifting demands, but also ready to lead the way forward.

In Front of What’s Ahead

We’re introducing a brand that allows us to embrace our identity by elevating and acknowledging who we are, and how we’re going to grow as Manitoba’s Polytechnic.

And even though the name might be new, this should be familiar territory – as an RRC Polytech alum, you received an education that helped you get in front of what’s ahead. You learned how to solve today’s problems, while thinking about tomorrow’s solutions, too. In fact, many of you are pushing the boundaries of what is and showing us what could be. You are the innovators, the driving force behind Manitoba’s economy. We’re proud of our legacy – your legacy – and we can’t wait for this next chapter in our history.

A Logical Evolution

Changing our name to reflect our identity as a polytechnic allows us to differentiate ourselves in the post-secondary sector in the province and helps us better prepare and respond to disruption.

This is our next step and we couldn’t move forward without including you, our alumni community. Over the next weeks and months, we’ll be sharing inspiring stories of RRC Polytech alumni who are in front of what’s ahead. We’ll also be introducing exciting contests and events to celebrate this bold new direction.

What does this name change mean for you? Your diplomas, certificates, transcripts, credentials, and RRC ID cards all still stand. Some of you have been with us since our days as MIT or RRCC, and as we lovingly retire RRC and proudly claim RRC Polytech, know that you are – and always will be – a lifetime member of the RRC Polytech alumni community.

Stay in touch with us as we boldly step into the future together. Update your contact information so we can let you know when we have important news to share. We have a fun season ahead and you won’t want to miss a minute of it.
