The Program Advisors work with students who are in a self-registering programs.  We are here to advise and support you in making informed decisions related to your academic goals. We can assist you in creating your course schedule in Student Planning, review academic progress or help you to create an academic plan for program completion.

Self-Registration

Are you in a program where you need to self-register? Check your RRC Polytech email account for information on registration details. An email will indicate if you need to self-register or if you will be registered by your Student Records Officer. 

Whether you are a new or returning student, our Academic Advisors provide support to students where self-registration is required using the Student Planning software.

Participate in a Self-Registration Information Session

Self-Registration information sessions are offered to teach you how to navigate the Student Planning software so you can plan and register for courses successfully.

Student Responsibilities

To stay on track and make registration as smooth as possible:

• Check your academic email regularly for important updates and information about your program.
• Watch for an email with your registration date and time. This is when you’ll be able to register for your courses.
• Plan your courses ahead of time so you’re ready to register when your registration window opens.
• Use the available supports if you need help registering. Attend a Student Planning session and explore the resources available on the website.
• Keep track of important dates and deadlines, including registration, payment, and withdrawal deadlines.
• Take advantage of the resources available to you, including academic supports, advising services, and online tools.

Program Advisor Responsibilities

Program Advisors are here to support you by:

• Offering Student Planning sessions to help you learn how to use Student Planning and self-register for courses.
• Supporting students in course-based registration programs and helping them make informed academic decisions.
• Providing information about program requirements, policies, and procedures.
• Connecting students with relevant college supports and resources.

Credit for Education, Work and Life Learning

If you are registered and have prior learning from education, life or work experiences that relates to your program, you should apply for transfer credit or recognition of prior learning (RPL) as soon as possible and prior to your program start date.

Career Services

Career Services offers students and recent graduates assistance with job search strategies, cover letter and resume writing, interview preparation, employment application forms, informational interviews and current labour market information.
