Rooted in the Land: Indigenous Teachings for a Sustainable Future

Get ready for an inspiring week of hands-on learning, exploration and connection to the natural world. This camp invites youth to explore sustainability, land-based skills and environmental responsibility, guided by Indigenous knowledge that teaches us how to live respectfully with the land and care for a healthy Earth for future generations.
Through experiential, outdoor-focused activities, campers will learn practical skills rooted in sustainability through land-based learning, harvesting, using nature for creative expression and learning practical skills from Indigenous teachings.
Campers will engage in a mix of hands-on themed programming and guided recreation activities throughout the campus. Recreation activities include games and sports, creative and artistic projects, team building challenges and more. We aim to go outside at least once per day, weather permitting.
Campers are led through their days by experienced leaders from RRC Polytech.

Hours and Location
Drop-Off & Pick-Up
Camp programming runs from 9am-4pm. Flexible drop-off and pick-up times are available before and after camp. Campers will be supervised during this time.

This camp is held at the Notre Dame Campus. 2055 Notre Dame Avenue, Winnipeg, MB.

Free Bus Transportation: Week 1 Camps (July 6 – 10, 2026)
We are offering free bus transportation from R. B. Russell School (364 Dufferin Ave, Winnipeg, MB R2W 2Y3) to RRC Polytech Notre Dame Campus and back during Week 1 of camps (July 6 – 10).
When registering for camp, you’ll have the option to sign up for this service. If you’d like to add bus transportation after registering, please email youthcamps@rrc.ca by Friday, June 19, 2026.
- Bus pick-up from R. B. Russel School: 8:15am
- Bus drop-off to R. B. Russel School: 4:30-4:45pm
Families will receive detailed bus policies, procedures, and pick-up/drop-off instructions two weeks before camp begins.
This service is subject to minimum registration numbers. If we do not reach the required participation threshold, the bus service may be cancelled. Families will receive final confirmation at least two weeks before camp.
What to Bring
Campers should bring the following daily:
- Packed lunch and snacks (nut free) – Fridges and microwaves are not available
- Refillable water bottle
- Comfortable clothing and appropriate footwear for activities (closed-toe shoes)
- Weather appropriate outerwear for outdoor activities (hat, sunscreen, etc.)

How to create an account and register for a youth camp
- Visit the youth camps registration portal.
- Select the camp you’d like to register for.
- Click Sign In beside the camp you’d like to register for.
- Login using your RRC Polytech credentials, email, or sign up for an account by clicking the bottom icon.
Please note: You do not need to enter an ID number.
- Once signed in, click the icon in the top right corner and select Profile.
- From the Profile screen, add the family members you’ll be signing up for a youth camp (please do not sign yourself up).
- Once you’ve added family members, go back to the previous screen and select the camp you’d like to register for and click the Register button.
- Follow the registration instructions and sign all required waivers.
- Add emergency contacts, authorized pick-ups and other additional information.
- Click Checkout and enter in your payment information to complete your camp registration.
Waitlist Process
If a camp is full, we encourage you to add your child to the waitlist. If a seat becomes available in your selected camp, we will email you with an offer. To accept the seat, click the link provided in the email.
You will have 72 hours to accept the seat. If no action is taken within this time, you will be removed from the waitlist.

If your family is considered near or low income based on the following table, please complete the Financial Assistance Application below to request a no-cost camp spot.
The information provided will be kept confidential and will be used solely for the purpose of evaluating your application.
No-cost camp spots are generously made available by the Carolyn Sifton Foundation.

Our Staff
Two camp leaders will guide each group of 15 campers throughout the day to ensure a safe and fun experience. Campers will engage in hands-on learning with our dedicated and skilled staff.
All camp staff undergo Criminal Record Checks, Child Abuse Registry Checks, and complete comprehensive training in youth engagement, conflict resolution and safety.
Refunds and Questions
Refunds must be requested at least fourteen calendar days before the camp start date.
