Design instructor earns Pinnacle Award for furniture series commissioned by Palliser
Our congratulations to Continuing Education instructor James Culleton, who recently received a prestigious Pinnacle Award from the American Society of Furniture designers.
Culleton, who teaches Graphic Design and Manual Writing and Design classes at RRC, was one of 16 designers from across North America to be recognized by the organization. He won in the motion upholstery category for the M1 series he designed for Palliser Furniture, where he’s served as design director for almost 15 years.
Culleton first got involved with RRC through his position at Palliser, launching an ongoing partnership with the College’s Residential Decorating program by enlisting students to design a trade show booth for Palliser.
He says the most interesting part of his job as an instructor is teaching students to problem-solve visually, noting he’s fascinated by the range of people who take evening classes at RRC.
