Commuting and Parking

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to pay for parking?

Yes. All vehicles must pay unless specifically approved.

What are my parking options?

We offer monthly permits, term permits, and daily parking. (There are no weekly permits).

Where can I park?

Park only in the zone and permit type you purchased, or in the designated daily Parking areas if you’re paying for the day. Please check the campus parking map to find your correct zone or Daily lot.

How does parking permit work?

Parking on NDC campus is based on zones (North, South, West, and Central) and permit types (Power or Non-Power). When you buy a permit, you choose a zone and a stall type and you can park anywhere in that zone that matches your permit.

The West Zone is Power only; North, South, and Central offer both stall types. Parking is first-come, first served, and all permits are virtual and linked to your license plate. Parking in the wrong zone or stall type may result in enforcement.

What is the difference between power and non-power parking?

A power permit allows you to park only in power stalls (plug-ins). A non-power permit allows you to park only in non-power stalls (without plug-ins).

How do I purchase permits or daily parking?

Permits can be purchased via parking portal while daily parking can be paid through PayByPhone or at any campus pay station.

When do permits become available?

Permits are available one month in advance starting at 12am on the first day of each month.

Where do visitors park?

Visitors can park in the designated daily or overflow lots shown on the campus parking map. Parking can be paid at any campus pay station or through the PayByPhone app. All Daily lots are marked with clear signage and PayByPhone lot codes.

I drive a hybrid/electric car. Are there EV charging stations on campus?

Yes. Notre Dame Campus has 17 EV charge stations of various levels, as well as two at the Stevenson Aviation campus. Use of a charging station requires that you have either a valid Power permit or have paid Daily parking.

What if I only need parking for a few days?

If you’re only on campus for a few days, the most flexible option is Daily Parking.

If you prefer a permit, you may purchase a monthly permit, and permits purchased after the start of a month or term will be prorated. This means you will only be charged for the remaining days in a month.

I can’t see a permit or zone in the Parking Portal. What does that mean?

It means that zone/permit type is currently sold out.

When is parking free?

Parking is complimentary after 5pm Friday for the weekend and on holidays.

Is there special parking for those with mobility issues?

Yes, see our information about accessible parking spots.

What is the Staff Payroll Deduction Program?

The Staff Payroll Deduction Program allows eligible staff to purchase an annual parking permit and pay for it through bi‑weekly payroll deductions.

This permit is valid for one year only, covering parking from September 1 to August 31 of the following year.

Is parking free at the Notre Dame Campus for staff visiting from another campus?

To confirm whether you need to pay for parking or not, please contact us via email before your visit.

How do I pay for a parking ticket?

Tickets can be paid online through the parking portal or in person at the Commuting and Parking Office (DM 19). All outstanding tickets must be paid before applying for a monthly permit.

How do I appeal a parking ticket?

Appeals must be submitted online only via parking portal. The ticket must be paid before an appeal can be submitted, and all appeal decisions are final.

Can I get a refund for my parking pass?

Refunds may be issued if your permit has more than 15 days remaining; for full details or to request a refund, please contact us by email.

Why do I need to provide my license plate number?

Commuting and Parking uses license plate recognition technology to enhance the efficiency of operations and contributes to RRC Polytech’s sustainability efforts by reducing the amount of plastic and paper consumed annually.

To ensure compliance with the system, it is the responsibility of all students and staff to ensure their registered license plate is up to date. Monthly/term permit holders may update their vehicles through their online profile. Daily/Casual parkers will be required to enter their license plate at the pay stations or through the mobile app.

Failure to keep your license plates up to date will result in parking tickets.

RRC Polytech campuses are located on the lands of the Anishinaabeg, Ininiwak, Anishininwak, Dakota Oyate, and Denésuline, and the National Homeland of the Red River Métis.
