Develop practical skills, build technical knowledge and explore various health-care settings and specialized courses in preparation for a successful nursing career.

A degree in Nursing prepares you for a career in multiple clinical settings and areas of the health-care system. You will participate in classroom lectures, build experiential skills in simulated labs and practice your new skills in a variety of clinical settings.

Through this program, you will earn a Bachelor of Nursing (BN) degree from RRC Polytech and become eligible to write the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN® exam). After completing the national exam and successfully becoming a member of the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) you will be able to legally use the designation registered nurse (RN).

Experience a Polytechnic Education

Full-time Delivery: Something New Every Term

In this program, you will develop the practical skills and in-depth knowledge needed to provide effective health care to individuals, families and communities. Your education will include theory-based classroom learning and practical learning in labs and health care facilities.

TERM 1

Explore foundational concepts in professional nursing, including health assessment, different nursing techniques and communication skills.

TERM 2

Further your knowledge through historical and theoretical classes and begin studying human development. Complete a foundational clinical practice course.

TERM 3

Study more advanced topics including pharmacology and theory related to older adults. Practice what you’ve learned through a clinical practice focused on older adults and long-term care.

TERM 4

Explore pathophysiology and health assessment. Practice and study Indigenous wellness. Practice what you’ve learned through a higher acuity clinical setting.

TERM 5

Build on your training in pathophysiology, microbiology and chronic illness. Gain crucial experience in medicine through a clinical practice course.

TERM 6

Explore acute conditions and family nursing topics. Develop your knowledge of surgery through a clinical practice course.

TERM 7

Study family health and develop leadership skills through a clinical practice course focused on pediatrics and maternity.

TERM 8

Advance your knowledge of mental health and epidemiology and pursue specialized electives. Complete a clinical practice course focused on mental health.

TERM 9

Study palliative care, community health and professional policies and complete a clinical practice course focused on palliative care.

TERM 10

Concentrate and practise your knowledge, under the guidance of a preceptor, in a focused practicum experience.
