Manitoba Momentum: Integrated Language and Safety Training for Newcomers in Trades and Transportation

Program Overview

Develop the skills, strategies and language needed to succeed in skilled trades, transportation, or supply chain management. Build essential workplace language abilities, gain industry required safety certifications and successfully transition into a high demand career.

Manitoba Momentum is a 20-week workforce development program designed to support newcomers in building careers in trades, transportation, and supply chain industries. This program combines job-focused language training, safety certification, and real-world work experience.

Class Size

25 students per class

Eligibility

  • Temporary Residents holding valid Work Permits or Study Permits
  • Canadian Citizens who identify as newcomers, including naturalized citizens, Canadian-born citizens raised outside of Canada, and foreign-born children of a Canadian citizen
  • Refugee Claimants
    • Only claimants with a valid work permit are eligible for employment-related services.
    • Among Refugee Claimants, those with a valid work permit will be prioritized under MSSS service categories other than employment-related services.
  • Spouse/Common-law partner and Dependent Children of the above
  • Others (if applicable) to be specified by the Service Provider and approved by the government
    • These persons must be residing in Manitoba to be considered eligible clients
    • Permanent Residents and Refugees have limited seats availability.

Program Requirements

Equipment

A computer with a webcam, internet access, plus a good-quality headset and microphone.

English Level

Students need a minimum English level of CLB 6.

Note: Programs and classes only run if a minimum number of students register.
