Directions Conference 2020 will be held February 6, 2020, at the Canad Inns Destination Centre Polo Park, 1405 St. Matthews Ave., Winnipeg, MB.

This year’s keynote speaker is local restaurateur, and former Blue Bomber, Obby Khan. Obby will share his story of family, football and entrepreneurship. (Details below.)

What is the Directions Conference?

The Directions Conference connects Red River College students in Business and Applied Arts with industry professionals in many areas of business. Keynote speakers, breakout informational sessions and the popular round table networking event combine into a rich and rewarding experience for both students and employers.

Keynote Speaker Obby Khan

This year’s keynote speaker is local restaurateur, and former Blue Bomber, Obby Khan.

His keynote talk is titled “The Grind: Make you or Break you”.

Stacked against almost impossible odds and circumstances. Obby will share his story of family, football and entrepreneurship.  There is no secret recipe, luck, right time or right place. There is only the GRIND.

Morning Breakout Sessions

Breakout sessions offer something for everyone, with speakers that are informative, relevant and inspirational.

Session #1 – 9:30am to 10:45am – Choose between:

  • Personal Branding Panel: How Your Brand Affects Your Career

Session #2 –  11:00am to 12:15pm – Choose between:

  • Accounting Panel: Recent RRC Accounting Grads
  • Human Resources Panel: Focus on How to get a Job

Afternoon Roundtable Networking Event

The Roundtable Networking Event provides business delegates a unique opportunity to network with Red River College students, while sharing career experiences. The networking begins at 1:45pm and the conversations go until 3:30pm.

To prepare for the Roundtable Networking Event we suggest that students review the list of roundtable hosts with their biographies.

Financial Aid

If financial aid is required you can apply for a bursary for the fees to the Conference.

Bursary applications are now closed. The deadline to apply for a bursary was January 21st, 2020.

Please fill out the Application for Awards, Bursaries, and Scholarships. The name of award for which you are applying is Directions Conference Bursary.

Take the completed Directions Registration form as well as the Award Application form to a Student Service Centre as soon as possible to be entered for the early bird prize draws.

NOTE: By registering for the Directions Conference, I agree that Red River College (including its Board of Governors, officers, employees, agents and partners) can use photographs and video footage taken at this event for future educational or promotional purposes. I understand there will be no payment for the use of these images, and that Red River College will not require my approval when such images are used. I will not hold Red River College responsible if my image is blurry, distorted, edited or otherwise altered.
