We have a number of partnerships and funding opportunities that help to support our students, our entrepreneurs-in-residence and the ACE Project Space in one way or another.

North Forge

North Forge is a strategic partner of the ACE Project Space. We meet regularly with North Forge to discuss opportunities as they partner with us to organize many events throughout the year. After our Entrepreneurs-In-Residence leave the ACE Project Space, they are ready to take the next steps in advancing their organizations by accessing all the services that North Forge has to offer.

New Media Manitoba

Streams: Technology Development, User Experience, Virtual Reality

New Media Manitoba is the province’s premier organization supporting digital media advocacy, education and business development. New Media Manitoba holds a number of events to provide networking opportunities, workshops and training sessions for members of the digital media industry and students of the ACE Project Space.

Wawanesa

Wawanesa acts as a partner to the ACE Project Space by providing us with quality, community-driven projects.

Tech Manitoba

Tech Manitoba partnership with us is an important one as they are the IT executive counsel organization in Manitoba. Here at the Applied Computer Education department, we partner with Tech Manitoba in organizing many events of interest to the IT community. Our mutual goals are to build a strong IT community and create a skilled workforce that can drive Manitoba’s economy.

Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC)

Streams: Technology Development, User Experience, Machine Learning, Information Security, Virtual Reality, Data Analytics

NSERC provides counselling and funding to research projects. Representatives from NSERC actively meet with our Entrepreneurs-In-Residence and visit the ACE Project Space once a week to provide answers and present on a variety of topics related to NSERC research funding opportunities.

Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP)

Streams: Technology Development, User Experience, Machine Learning, Information Security, Virtual Reality, Data Analytics

National Research Council’s IRAP actively meets with Entrepreneurs-In-Residence at the ACE Project Space to provide guidance and present on a variety of topics related to IRAP startup funding opportunities. IRAP provides value to our space by offering counselling and funding towards research projects.

Mitacs

Streams: Technology Development, Business Analysis, User Experience, Machine Learning, Information Security, Virtual Reality, Data Analytics

Mitacs supports research-based innovation and is a national, not-for-profit organization. They provide funding towards research and towards students engaged in research. Mitacs-funded research has been shown to improve economic performance and create employment opportunities.

Futurpreneur

Streams: Technology Development, Business Analysis, User Experience, Machine Learning, Information Security, Virtual Reality, Data Analytics

Futurpreneur and the ACE Project Space organize several events, together, throughout the year, which are run in the ACE Project Space. Futurpreneur provides counseling and startup funding for young entrepreneurs.

Funding

As a space for applied research, the ACE Project Space and our project sponsors have been fortunate to benefit from a number of funding opportunities. We can help direct our Entrepreneurs-In-Residence towards funding opportunities. We have worked with the following organizations, who offer funding towards research and startup grants:

Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC)

As an organization that supports post-secondary students in advancing their studies, NSERC provides funding towards research activities that are done in collaboration with industry. NSERC is a federal funding organization that supports research in the area of natural science and has several funding models depending on the size and the scope of the project.

Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP)

IRAP actively meets with Entrepreneurs-In-Residence at the ACE Project Space to provide guidance and present on a variety of topics related to IRAP startup funding opportunities. IRAP provides value to our space by offering counselling and funding towards research projects.

Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC)

Streams: Technology Development, Business Analysis, User Experience

The ITAC Career Ready Program is a wage subsidy program where eligible small and medium-sized enterprises can receive a subsidy towards paying Business Technology Management (BTM) students during their work experience terms, which includes students on industry project here in the ACE Project Space. This subsidy covers 50% of student wages and up to 70% for students from underrepresented groups. Visit itactalent.ca for details.

Mitacs

Through Mitacs Accelerate, students are eligible to receive funding for themselves and the projects they work on. Partner organizations have an opportunity to solve research challenges, when they sponsor an intern they gain access to academic expertise, government funding toward both student-intern and project, along with one-to-one support from Mitacs.

Western Diversification Program

Streams: Technology Development, Business Analysis, User Experience, Machine Learning, Information Security, Virtual Reality, Data Analytics

The Western Diversification Program (WDP) is offered via Western Economic Diversification Canada and makes strategic investments in initiatives that enhance and strengthen the economy of Western Canada. They help to fund research projects at the Centre for Machine Learning Studies that support innovation and serve the community.

Applied Computer Education Department

Streams: Technology Development, Business Analysis, User Experience, Machine Learning, Information Security, Virtual Reality, Data Analytics

Red River College Polytechnic’s Applied Computer Education department has funded research activities at the ACE Project Space by providing opportunities for students and recent graduates to apply their knowledge on real and meaningful projects.

RRC Polytech campuses are located on the lands of Anishinaabe, Ininiwak, Anishininew, Dakota, and Dené, and the National Homeland of the Red River Métis.

We recognize and honour Treaty 3 Territory Shoal Lake 40 First Nation, the source of Winnipeg’s clean drinking water. In addition, we acknowledge Treaty Territories which provide us with access to electricity we use in both our personal and professional lives.
