The ACE Project Space is home for many interdisciplinary projects that have a technology-related component.
What We’re Doing
The projects developed in the space are proposed by stakeholders working in multiple industry sectors.
Interdisciplinary projects and applied research involve a technology component, such as web or application development combined with work in one or more industry sectors beyond information technology, including health sciences, creative arts, community services and more. The development of these projects usually involves collaboration with either internal or external stakeholders from these sectors.
An interdisciplinary project can be suggested by an entrepreneur or representatives from other industry sectors, Red River College Polytechnic faculty and staff outside of Applied Computer Education (ACE), government representatives, etc. Depending on the solution, the technology component of the project can be developed before, after or during the development of the other interdisciplinary deliverables.

We are actively collaborating with other educational departments of Red River College Polytechnic to develop a wide breadth of projects.
Students Expertise
Students from our information technology programs (Business Information Technology, Business Technology Management, Data Science and Machine Learning, and Information Security) have collaborated with stakeholders from other industry-focused areas to bring interdisciplinary projects to life. The following are some examples of people we have completed interdisciplinary projects with:
- Red River College Polytechnic students and instructors from programs supporting other industries
- External clients and entrepreneurs-in-residence, who own or are part of organizations in a variety of industry sectors
- Government representatives who support applied research initiatives with impact in industries beyond information technology
Faculty and Staff Expertise
Instructors and support staff in the ACE department have expertise in information technology and business, while accumulating experience working with people in different industry sectors.
Some research projects are initiated in-house, while others come from and are supported by the brilliant minds of College-wide personnel. Faculty and staff from other educational departments often partner with the ACE Project Space to develop interdisciplinary projects with a positive impact on the community. Our people are experienced professionals who are on the edge of innovation and don’t hesitate to go above and beyond to strengthen the ties between Red River College Polytechnic and industry.

Business
The majority of our projects have a strong business component that supports the development of a new application or website along with strategies and tactics that help our entrepreneurs-in-residence improve their products and services. ACE Project Space faculty and staff have strong knowledge and experience in business, providing the perfect environment for stakeholders to bring their business ideas to life.
Health Sciences
The ACE Project Space often partners with internal and external stakeholders to develop projects with a direct impact in the health services sector.
Education
Some of the research and projects developed in the space have educational outcomes, including applications for educational institutions and self-directed learning.
Other Areas
The work developed in the ACE Project Space can extend to other industry sectors, including community services, indigenous education, hospitality, engineering, construction, transportation and skilled trades.
