This micro-credential course is part of a training initiative by Canadian Colleges for a Resilient Recovery (C2R2) and the Government of Canada to provide workers with new skills needed to support a clean economy.

The Electric Vehicle Communication and Computer Systems micro-credential course is designed to complement the prerequisite Introduction to Electric Vehicle Technology micro-credential course.

This course provides:

  • Technicians with an advanced skill level diagnosing vehicle networking and computer systems related to hybrid and electric vehicles.
  • Hands-on diagnosis and testing of multiplexing networks including CAN, ladder logic and J1939 protocol.
  • Skills related to network message dissection and interpretation using oscilloscope and scan data.
  • Skills related to software routines/functions for systems such as high voltage battery management, propulsion and all levels of charging.

Textbooks/Materials:

  • PPE, steel toe (CSA approved footwear) and CSA approved safety glasses. Students will be informed on the first day of all required PPE.

Prerequisites

Students must have successfully completed the Introduction to Electric Vehicle Technology micro-credential course.
