College welcomes new chair of Civil Engineering Technology

Shari BielertNancy Wheatley, Dean of the School of Construction and Engineering Technologies at Red River College, is pleased to welcome Shari Bielert as the new Chair of RRC’s Civil Engineering Technology department, effective May 4, 2015.

Bielert is a graduate of the Civil Engineering Technology’s former Engineering Design and Drafting program (now Architectural/Engineering Technology). She also earned her Bachelor of Environmental Studies (Architecture) from the University of Manitoba, and recently completed a Master of Education degree, also at the U of M.

After completing her RRC diploma and (first) degree, Bielert was employed as a structural design technologist in the building components industry. She was a founding member of the Canada Green Building Council’s MB Chapter, and continues to be a green building advocate.

Over the past 15 years, Bielert has served as an instructor for three Civil Engineering Technology programs – Architectural/Engineering Technology, Environmental Technology and the Construction Management degree.

Her most recent experience in the department has been as the coordinator for Technology Solutions for the Workplace, and as the program coordinator for Construction Management and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technology.

RRC Polytech campuses are located on the lands of Anishinaabe, Ininiwak, Anishininew, Dakota, and Dené, and the National Homeland of the Red River Métis.

We recognize and honour Treaty 3 Territory Shoal Lake 40 First Nation, the source of Winnipeg’s clean drinking water. In addition, we acknowledge Treaty Territories which provide us with access to electricity we use in both our personal and professional lives.
