Winkler Campus Instructor Honoured with Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal

November 28, 2012

Red River College Winkler Campus instructor Evelyn Currie has been recognized for her commitment to education with a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.

Currie, a former high school teacher and guidance counsellor who’s now a Business Administration instructor at Winkler Campus, was among 15 Manitobans honoured with medals at a ceremony in Portage la Prairie earlier this month.

Currie says she’s especially fond of working one-on-one with students. She plays an equally supportive role in the community, working with the Christmas Cheer Board and on the board of directors of the Pembina Valley Arts Centre.

RRC Polytech campuses are located on the lands of Anishinaabe, Ininiwak, Anishininew, Dakota, and Dené, and the National Homeland of the Red River Métis.

We recognize and honour Treaty 3 Territory Shoal Lake 40 First Nation, the source of Winnipeg’s clean drinking water. In addition, we acknowledge Treaty Territories which provide us with access to electricity we use in both our personal and professional lives.
