Union Bank Tower receives government funding

May 20, 2009

Red River College is proud to announce it has
secured $19.5 million in funding to go forward with the renewal of the
historic Union Bank Tower in Winnipeg’s Exchange District. The building
will become the Paterson GlobalFoods Institute, a new home for RRC’s
hospitality programs and the College’s first student residence.

$9.5 million in funding will come from the federal government’s new
Knowledge Infrastructure Program, $5 million from the Province of
Manitoba, and $5 million from private donors and other partners
(including $2 million from Paterson GlobalFoods and the Paterson
Foundation, and $2 million from CentreVenture and the City of Winnipeg).

The College will continue to work with community and corporate partners
to raise additional capital contributions in support of this project.

"We appreciate that the federal and provincial governments share our
vision for a thriving, expanded campus in the Exchange District, and
we’re excited to be moving ahead with this important project," said Dr.
Jeff Zabudsky, President of RRC.

Construction on the new Paterson GlobalFoods Institute will begin in Summer 2009.
