Configure wireless network – Windows 10 and 11

To manually configure your personal device to connect to the RRC wireless network, follow these steps:

  1. In your Windows search box, type Control Panel, and then press the Enter key (or click the search result).

  2. On the All Control Panel Items screen, click the Network and Sharing Center link.

  3. On the Network and Sharing Center page, click the Set up a new connection or network link.

  4. On the Set Up a Connection or Network window, click Manually connect to a wireless network, and then click Next.

  5. On the Manually connect to a wireless network menu, complete the fields as follows:
    • In the Network name field, enter RRCWireless (case sensitive).
    • In the Security type field, select WPA2‑Enterprise in the drop‑down menu.
    • In the Encryption type field, select AES in the drop‑down menu.
    • Select the Start this connection automatically check box, and then click Next.

  6. On the Manually connect to a wireless network window, click Change connection settings.

  7. On the RRCWireless Wireless Network Properties menu, on the Security tab, in the Choose a network authentication method drop‑down menu, select Microsoft: Protected EAP (PEAP), and then click Settings.

  8. On the Protected EAP Properties menu, complete the following steps:
    • Under When connecting, select the Verify the server’s identity by validating the certificate check box.
    • Clear the Connect to these servers (examples:srv1;srv2;.*\.srv3\.com) check box.
    • Under Trusted Root Certification Authorities, scroll down and select the Entrust.net Certification Authority (2048) check box.
      NOTE: If you do not have the Entrust.net Certification Authority (2048) check box, clear the Verify the server’s identity by validating the certificate check box at the top of the Protected EAP Properties window.

    • In the Notifications before connecting drop‑down menu, select Tell user if the server name or root certificate isn’t specified.
    • Under Select Authentication Method, clear the Enable Fast Reconnect check box, and then click Configure.

  9. On the EAP MSCHAPv2 Properties window, clear the Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any) check box, click OK to return to the Protected EAP Properties menu, and then click OK to return to the RRCWireless Wireless Network Properties menu.

  10. On the RRCWireless Wireless Network Properties menu, on the Security tab, click Advanced settings.

  11. On the Advanced settings menu, on the 802.1X settings tab, complete the following steps:
    • Select the Specify authentication mode check box.
    • Select User authentication in the drop‑down menu.
    • Click Save credentials.

  12. Enter your College user name and password, click OK to return to the Advanced settings menu, click OK to return to the RRCWireless Wireless Network Properties menu, click OK, and then click Close. You have now configured your device.
    NOTE: Enter the same user name and password that you use to access the RRC Polytech network.
