Change your greeting by telephone

  1. Press the Messages button on your telephone to log on to Unity Connection. For additional log on methods and instructions, open the Listen to your voicemail messages webpage.
  2. Press 41
  3. Listen as Unity Connection plays your current greeting, or press # to skip it.
  4. Use the following keys to choose the greeting that you want to change:

3▸1 Standing greeting (previously called external)
3▸2 Closed greeting
3▸3 Alternate greeting (previously called temporary)
3▸4 Busy greeting
3▸5 Internal greeting
3▸6 Holiday greeting

After your greeting plays, use the following keys to change it, and follow any additional voice prompts:

Change your telephone password

Your telephone password protects the privacy of your messages and secures your Unity Connection mailbox from unauthorized access. You can change your telephone password at any time by following these steps:

  1. Press the Messages button on your telephone to log on to Unity Connection. For additional log on methods and instructions, open the Listen to your voicemail messages webpage.
  2. Press 431
  3. Enter a new password using keys 0–9, and then press the # key.
    NOTE:

    • The minimum password length is four digits.
    • Unity Connection stores your five previously used passwords and prohibits you from reusing a password that it has saved in your history.
    • Your password credentials expire after six months, at which time the system will prompt you to change your password.

  4. Reenter your new password to confirm it, and then press the # key.

Check your messages from a touch tone telephone

The message waiting indicator on your desktop telephone will notify you when you receive a new message. To retrieve your messages using a touch‑tone telephone, follow these steps:

  1. Press the Messages button on your telephone to log on to Unity Connection. For additional log on methods and instructions, open the Listen to your voicemail messages webpage.
  2. Use the following keys on your telephone key pad:
    • Press 1 to hear new messages.
    • Press 31 to hear saved messages.

During message options:

1 Restart message
2 Save
3 Delete
4 Slow playback
5 Change volume
6 Fast playback
7 Rewind message
8 Pause/resume
9 Fast‑forward
# Fast‑forward to end

After message options:

Forward your voicemail messages by telephone

  1. After listening to your message, press 5 to forward it to another recipient.
  2. Record an introduction when you hear the tone, and use the following keys as you record:

  4. When you are finished recording, press the # key.
  5. Follow the voice prompts to add recipients to your message, and then press the # key to confirm the recipient.
    NOTE: When adding a recipient, the system defaults to the “spell by name” format. To change to the “dial by extension” format, press #▸#.
  6. Press 1 to add another name, press # to send the message as is, or press 3 for message options. Use the following keys to select message options, and follow the voice prompts to send your message:

    1 Change addressing
    2 Change recording
    3 Set special delivery
    4 Review message
    # Send message as is
    Cancel message
  8. Press the # key to forward the message.
  9. After you forward your message, follow the voice prompts to manage your original message.

Listen to your voicemail messages

You can log in and listen to your voicemail messages in the following three ways: (1) from your own desktop telephone, (2) from another RRC Polytech extension, and (3) from an off‑campus or cellular telephone.

From your own desktop telephone

  1. Press the Messages button.
  2. Enter your PIN (password), followed by the # key.

From another RRC Polytech extension

  1. Press the Messages button.
  2. Press the  key.
  3. Enter your ID (4‑digit extension), followed by the # key.
  4. Enter your PIN (password), followed by the # key.

From an off‑campus or cellular telephone

  1. Dial 204‑632‑2200.
  2. Press the  key.
  3. Enter your ID (4‑digit extension), followed by the # key.
  4. Enter your PIN (password), followed by the # key.

OR

  1. Dial 204, followed by your 7‑digit telephone number.
  2. When you hear your greeting, press the  key.
  3. Enter your ID (4‑digit extension), followed by the # key.
  4. Enter your PIN (password), followed by the # key.

Reply to your voicemail messages by telephone

When you reply to a message by telephone, you can reply to the sender only, the sender and all other recipients, and recipients that you add to your reply. To reply to a voicemail message by telephone, follow these steps:

After listening to a message, press 4 to reply to the sender, or press 4▸2 to reply to the sender and all other message recipients.

Record your reply using the following keys as you record:

Press # to send the message, or press 1 to add more recipients and hear other message options. Use the following keys to select message options, and follow the voice prompts to send your message:
