Install software with elevated access

You will need to run the installation file with elevated access to install it on your computer.

To complete the process and to ensure that you have access to your new software, please follow the directions as provided, heading by heading, and step by step within the headings.

Download a file

Download your intended new software package installation file.

Unblock a file

If you see this error window, in the image below, you must unblock your file. This is the only way to continue with the installation process.

Follow the steps below

1. Open your File Explorer, click Downloads, then right click the file, then click Show more options, and then click Properties.
2. Select the box next to Unblock, then click Apply, and then click OK.
   

3. Locate and right click the software package installation file again.

4. A submenu will open, click Run with elevated access. Run with Elevated access will work with .EXE and .MSI files.

5. The Endpoint Privilege Management window will open. Type in the business justification for need of admin rights with this software, and then click Continue.

6. Enter your RRC Polytech credentials when prompted.
7. Click Next to continue the installation, then follow through the process provided.

Install software with elevated access

1. Type File Explorer in your Windows search bar, and then click the result under Best Match. When it opens, click the Downloads folder, or the folder where you saved the installation file.

2. Locate and right click the software package installation file.

3. A submenu will open, click Run with elevated access. Run with elevated access will work with .EXE and .MSI files.

   NOTE: You might need to click Show more options first, and then click Run with elevated access to continue.

4. The Endpoint Privilege Management window will open. Type in the business justification for needing admin rights with this software, and then click Continue.

5. Continue the installation as prompted and follow the process provided until completed and you have the elevated access that you need for that particular file.

• User Account Control Window – If you see this window below, it means that you have left clicked the installation file, when you need to right-click it.
