Immunizations and Testing

Receiving immunizations and getting required testing is important for all healthcare workers, such as nurses, clinical laboratory staff, HCA, and physicians. Healthcare workers are at an increased risk of exposure to communicable diseases (diagnoses and undiagnosed) because of their contact with patients/clients or their environment. In addition, there is a risk that a healthcare worker could transmit an undiagnosed vaccine-preventable disease to others.

RRC Polytech strongly recommends that students receive all immunizations and testing for healthcare workers.

RRC Polytech Health Services references the following resources for immunization requirements:

  • WRHA Regional Immunization and Tuberculin Testing Policy
  • Canadian Immunization Guidelines
  • Manitoba Immunization Guidelines
  • Canadian Tuberculosis Standards 8th Edition
  • The National Advisory Committee on Immunization
