Step into the world of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and become a vital part of health-care delivery. In this hands-on diploma program, you will learn to safely operate MRI equipment, create high-quality diagnostic images and provide safe, compassionate care to patients from diverse backgrounds. You will build skills through simulation, clinical tools and work-integrated learning experiences that prepare you for real-world health care environments.

By the end of the program, you’ll be able to perform MRI procedures, communicate effectively with patients, analyze images and apply knowledge of pathophysiology and body systems to MRI imaging.

Upon graduation, you will be eligible to write the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) certification exam and begin your career as a certified MRI technologist.

In just over two years, the Magnetic Resonance Imaging – 1st Discipline program combines classroom learning, simulation and extensive clinical education to prepare you to safely perform MRI exams and transition confidently into professional practice.

TERM 1

Explore foundational concepts in health care, anatomy, communication and patient-centred practice through classroom learning and lab activities.

TERM 2

Expand your understanding of anatomy and begin applying foundational patient care skills in supervised clinical and simulated learning environments.

TERM 3

Explore MRI-specific theory while developing patient care, safety and advanced communication skills essential for MRI practice.

TERM 4

Build on MRI theory and begin applying imaging and patient care concepts in a supervised clinical setting.

TERM 5

Begin intensive clinical practice by performing routine MRI procedures under supervision while building confidence in patient care and safety.

TERM 6

Develop advanced clinical techniques and independent decision-making skills in preparation for graduation and entry-level practice.
