The Electrical Trades program provides the fundamental knowledge and practical skills needed to begin a career in the electrical trade. Developed through research and consultation with industry partners, the curriculum reflects the skills employers are looking for.
With a focus on electrical safety, the Canadian Electrical Code and industry-standard wiring practices, you’ll build a strong foundation in residential and commercial electrical installation. Through a combination of classroom instruction, hands-on labs and practical training, you’ll develop the confidence to work safely and effectively in the field.
You’ll also gain real-world experience during a two-week work-integrated learning placement, where you’ll work alongside experienced electricians who will mentor you and share industry best practices. This Apprenticeship Manitoba-accredited program provides Level 1 apprenticeship training and prepares you for the next step toward becoming a certified journeyperson.

Develop the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to launch a career in the electrical trade. Learn electrical theory, code requirements, safe work practices, wiring methods and installation techniques through classroom instruction, hands-on labs and workplace learning.
TERM 1
Build a strong foundation in electrical theory, workplace safety, communication, mathematics, hand and power tool use, electrical code and basic residential wiring practices.
TERM 2
Advance your skills through circuit analysis, electrical service installations, Canadian Electrical Code applications, trade documentation, commercial wiring techniques and a two-week work-integrated learning placement.
