Creative Communications

Turn your creativity into a communications career and become the voice of your industry.

Learn to inform, persuade and empower people with accurate, concise and creative communication in a diverse range of industries.

In this program, you will develop the versatile communications skills and in-depth knowledge you need to start a successful career in advertising and marketing communications, broadcasting, media production, journalism or public relations and communication management.

In the first year, you’ll build fundamental writing, critical thinking and digital media design skills and develop specialized knowledge in each of these dynamic industries. In the second year, you will choose a specialization and further develop your knowledge in preparation for graduation and a career.

Specialize in Advertising and Marketing Communications or Public Relations and Communication Management to complement your industry-level writing skills with an in-depth investigation of brand marketing, web design, digital marketing, analytics and digital media strategy, production and design.

Specialize in Journalism or Media Production to explore new and traditional storytelling techniques. Widen your skill set with digital storytelling and digital media design courses and learn to use state-of-the-art photography and videography equipment and industry-standard production techniques.

You’ll develop your skills through practical learning in a media production and broadcast studio, a Foley/sound recording studio and various dedicated lab spaces. You’ll also build important work experience and professional connections with real clients and industry partners through practical assignments and work placements.

In the second year of Creative Communications, you will choose a specialization stream and deepen your knowledge while building the versatile writing, critical thinking and communication skills you need to excel in any of these communication fields.

Bring brands to life and apply creative strategies that resonate with target audiences and achieve meaningful results. Work with real clients to solve marketing problems and gain the skills needed to plan, create and implement traditional and digital marketing communications content.

Develop, report and produce nuanced pieces of journalism for new and traditional media. Create ethical, original and publishable stories and craft clear and concise writing for various media sources while honing your visual storytelling skills through videography and photojournalism.
