


Jill Patterson is the Manager of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services at RRC Polytech. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and is a graduate of RRC Polytech’s ASL-English Interpreting program. Jill has had the privilege of working within the Deaf community for over 30 years and has led Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services at RRC Polytech for the past 25 years
A committed team of ASL-English interpreters support accessibility across all RRC Polytech programs, ensuring Deaf and hard-of-hearing students are students can fully access their education. Team members, with 2 to 20+ years of experience, hold both university degrees and diplomas in ASL-English interpretation. The team includes both permanent and term staff who work collaboratively to meet the needs of the College community.

Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (DHHS) offers accommodations such as ASL-English interpreters and note taking support to ensure equal access to education of all Deaf and Hard of Hearing students enrolled in programs and courses at Red River College Polytechnic. These services are also available for course group work, college-related appointments (meeting with instructors, financial aid, counselling etc.), college workshops, events and more. Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services works together with students and their academic program to develop and facilitate individualized and appropriate accommodations.
The DHHS manager may also arrange for additional supports to help increase academic success. We can connect you with tutors, academic coaches, assistive technology training, personal counselling, and Indigenous supports. We can also assist you with applications for disability-related funding.
