Student / Graduate Surveys – Who What Where When and Why

Note: All RRC Polytech surveys are voluntary but the more responses received the more reliable the information.

Apprenticeship Evaluation of Level Survey Who Students taking Apprenticeship Manitoba programs at RRC Polytech.
What An online survey form is available. Survey Reminders are emailed to Chair Admin Assistants or assigned contact person throughout the year.
Where During class time. The online form can be accessed by computer/ laptop, tablet, iPad cart (NDC only) or smartphone. If students are left to participate on their own time, the number of responses is much lower.
When This survey should be given to students of each level of all RRC Polytech Apprenticeship programs, towards the end of each level, so that students will have experienced enough to assess the level.
Why This survey gathers information that helps RRC Polytech and Apprenticeship Manitoba determine whether students are gaining the knowledge and experience they need from each level of their program. It is part of the College’s ongoing effort to improve.
Graduate Satisfaction and Employment Survey Who The previous academic year graduates from Regular, Apprenticeship, Continuing Education, and Regional, full and part-time programs.
What Email invitation directing students to Online form, followed by Telephone / Online contact to anyone who hasn’t responded yet.
Where Grads are contacted via email to their last known home email address.
When Graduates are surveyed during academic year that comes after their graduation academic year.
Why Information collected from this survey is used to determine whether the College is providing what is needed by graduates and their employers. It is also used to promote the College programs.
Paths to Success Who All first-year full-time students – dependent on programs’ willingness to participate.
What This is an online survey of students delivered primarily in class.
Where During class time. The online form can be accessed by computer/laptop, tablet, iPad cart (NDC only) or smartphone. If students are left to participate on their own time, the number of responses is much lower.
When During the first two to three weeks of the beginning of term.
Why This survey gathers information on previous education, intentions for taking the program, possible risk factors, interest in student supports, and demographic information. This information is used to support Faculty Academic Advising, Marketing, Analytics, and Student Services.
Student Evaluation of Instruction / Course Who All students taking full or part-time RRC Polytech Continuing Education, Regional or Regular courses of 15 days or longer.
What This is an online survey with specific-to-each-student invitations delivered directly to students via academic email and through the “RRC Polytech Surveys” box on the LEARN homepage. The students’ SEI/C links may also be accessed within their LEARN course, if instructors have used this feature.
Where During class time. The links to students’ SEI/C forms can be accessed via student email or LEARN using computers or laptops, tablets, iPad cart (NDC only) or smartphones. If students are left to participate on their own time, the number of responses is much lower.
When Each course/instruction evaluation period starts four weeks before the end of the course and runs for three weeks. The links expire 7 days prior to the end of the course in case there are assignments due or final exams during that last week.
Why The SEIC information helps instructors by providing feedback from their students. It is part of the College’s ongoing effort to improve students’ experience here and helps us to identify what’s working and what needs to be improved.
Student Evaluation of Program Survey Who Students in the final term of their full-time program.
What This is an online survey with specific-to-each-student invitations delivered directly to students via academic email and through the “RRC Polytech Surveys” box on the LEARN homepage. The students’ SEPS links may also be accessed within their LEARN course, if instructors have used this feature.
Where During class time. The online form can be accessed by computer/laptop, tablet, iPad cart (NDC only) or smartphone. If students are left to participate on their own time, the number of responses is much lower.
When Students whose program will be ending (final term) soon will receive email invitations to assess their program overall.
Why This survey allows the students to assess the overall program. The information collected is used for program improvement and to promote College programs.
