New Manager Joins RRC’s Winkler Campus

September 22, 2011

Red River College is pleased to welcome Keith Doerksen as the new Manager of its Winkler Campus.

Doerksen, a longtime resident of the Morden-Winkler area, takes over for former campus manager Isabel Bright (now Chair of Life Sciences at RRC), and relieves Joanne Gonda, who’s been serving as Acting Manager since Bright’s departure over the summer.

“I am excited about the opportunity to work with a dynamic educational organization like Red River College, that allows local students to receive highly-regarded programming close to home,” says Doerksen.

“I look forward to working with local employers and schools in order to address current and future training needs within the Pembina Valley. Our current renovations at the Winkler campus will allow us to continue to grow as the demand for training opportunities increases.”

Doerksen has extensive background in the field of employment and vocational rehabilitation services. Since 2008, he’s worked at Eden Health Care Services in Winkler, as Program Director for Segue Career Options — an agency that helps individuals with disabilities to locate and secure training and competitive employment.

Prior to that, he was Senior Case Manager, Casualty and Rehabilitation Services for Manitoba Public Insurance (in Winkler); Rehabilitation Counsellor for the Society for Manitobans with Disabilities (in Morden), and Community Mental Health Worker for Manitoba Health (in Crystal City).

Doerksen has a Bachelor of Social Work degree, a Bachelor of Arts degree, and a Certificate in Rehabilitation Management (with Honours) from the University of Manitoba, as well as a Management Certificate from the University of Winnipeg. He is currently enrolled in the Master of Public Administration program at the University of Manitoba.
