Aboriginal Pipe Ceremony and Summer Feast

On June 17th, eTV attended the Pipe Ceremony and Summer Feast hosted by Aboriginal Student Support & Community Relations. Winnispeed

June 28, 2013

On June 11th, eTV was home to Winnispeed, an exciting event featuring Joe Justice of Team Wikispeed building a car right inside our studio! The 100+ mile-per-gallon prototype car that Team Wikispeed created in just three months was built from scratch in a single day. eTV filmed the process as participants worked directly with Joe Justice to build the car and learn about Extreme Manufacturing, and how they could apply the same concepts and methodologies to their own context.

RRC Convocation Spring 2013

Red River College held its second convocation at the Centennial Concert Hall on June 10th and 11th. The Spring Convocation was streamed live by eTV and made available to those unable to attend the ceremony in person. We would like to extend our congratulations to all graduates and are proud to support them by ensuring that all family and friends, regardless of their location, are able to share in this memorable occasion.

Red River College – Pride Parade 2013

Red River College participated, for the second year, in the 2013 Pride Parade. eTV joined our colleagues in the walk, as we photographed the day. We are proud to support this event, Red River College’s LGBTT* Initiative and the greater Winnipeg LGBTT* community! Check out some pictures below!

College Day – Gathering with the President

June 10, 2013

eTV streamed Gathering with the President as part of RRC’s College Day on Friday, June 7th in the North Gym at Notre Dame Campus. The event included president Stephanie Forsyth’s address and a Q & A session, followed by the Staff Awards Ceremony and the 75th Anniversary Kickoff. The three camera shoot provided a high-quality video that was live-streamed to participants. The video is now available on demand for those who were unable to attend.

Streaming Wrap-up 2012-2013

After nine successful months of streaming, “summer” is officially here! eTV enjoyed another wonderful year with the Paramedicine and Nursing departments, delivering high quality streaming to rural sites around Manitoba. We wish all the best to our on-site students as well as the rural Paramedicine students in Portage, Brandon, and The Pas, and the rural Nursing students in Portage and Dauphin. eTV is looking forward to another great year starting in September with new students and rural sites as we unveil enhanced streaming technology. RPL Symposium 2013

eTV was proud to host the 6th Annual RPL Symposium in Studio B on May 22nd. The event was streamed live to viewers across Manitoba, and all the way to St. John’s, Newfoundland. The RPL department, in conjunction with MPLAN, presented on a variety of topics about the recognition of prior learning in post-secondary education, all of which celebrated and recognized RPL practices at RRC and in Manitoba. Representatives from MPLAN also presented the MPLAN PEARL awards. eTV would like to extend its congratulations to Red River College and all other recipients of this prestigious award.

Animal Health – Dairy Farm

May 17, 2013

Sometimes it can be a dirty job but the eTV crew are always up to the challenge. Recently, we visited the Grenkow Dairy Farm with Dr. Johnston of Central Veterinarian Services for an examination of reproductive herd health. The video from this shoot supports an Animal Health Technology Curriculum Re-Development PIF project. For a behind the scenes look at this shoot, check out the video and pictures below. No animals or eTV crew members were hurt in the making of this “moooovie.”

AED and CPR Awareness

May 10, 2013

eTV and the Environmental Safety & Health department delivered an AED and CPR presentation to educate and promote awareness of these life saving measures.

According to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, overall, the odds of surviving a cardiac arrest are almost four times greater if someone performs CPR right away. When CPR is combined with an AED and used within the first few minutes of a cardiac arrest, survival rates can increase by as much as 75 percent.

Nursing Virtual Community Update

April 18, 2013

At the end of March, eTV returned to Bloodvein First Nation to record interviews, photograph the community, and finish capturing elements of the nursing station. eTV is currently immersed in the production and development of the interactive component of this Program Innovation Fund project. We greatly appreciate the support and participation of the Bloodvein community.
