National Skilled Trades and Technology Week Pep Rally

The National Skilled Trades and Technology Week Pep Rally was a big success this year with lots of fun activities and learning opportunities. Economy Minister Kevin Chief was on hand to announce that Manitoba will be hosting the 2017 National Skills Canada Competition. Stevenson Aviation Plane Donation

October 30, 2015

On Oct. 22 the Swanberg family from British Columbia donated a Jetstream turbo-prop airplane to the staff and students of Red River College’s Stevenson Aviation. The donation was made in in memory of Sylvan and Dorothy Swanberg. “We are grateful to the Swanberg family for their impactful donation that allows students to train on state-of-the-art equipment and become leaders in their field.” said Paul Vogt, president & CEO, Red River College.

Robotic Technologies

Over the last couple of years, eTV has been implementing a variety of robotic technologies into our production set-up. These technologies have helped expand our contribution to teaching and communication activities throughout the college. Streaming and live events can be captured in a more dynamic, captivating manner while new innovations around panoramas and immersive learning can be produced faster with high quality reliability. Looking into the future, eTV will continue to implement these technologies into our development plans; apart from expanding our contribution to RRC’s Vision and Mission, robotic technology makes for awesome looking visuals so please check out the video below.

What I Did on My Summer Vacation

CARD/PIF Research Presentations

Research is a vital aspect of post-secondary education. Red River College’s commitment to research is exemplified in a new series of events, the CARD/PIF Research Presentations. This series is co-sponsored by Applied Research & Commercialization and the Centre for Teaching Excellence, Innovation and Research. The presentations will be live streamed by eTV and will also be made available on-demand on the eTV Blog: Streaming page.

The first presentation, The Google Embryo Project by Susan Crawford-Young, explores how an embryo grows and develops. Drawing on research on the characteristics of salamander embryo tissue, Crawford-Young presents her findings on the correlation between physics and embryology.

AAiM Day

June 20, 2014

On May 21st, Aviation and Aerospace in Manitoba (AAiM) Day was held at Red River College’s Stevenson Aviation as approximately 700 grade 6 students took part in events designed to introduce young people to aviation and aerospace. This year’s event was marked by the attendance of several dignitaries including their Royal Highnesses Charles the Prince of Wales and Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall, as well as the Prime Minister of Canada Stephen Harper and Mrs. Laureen Harper. eTV was happy to participate in documenting the day’s activities.

RRC Convocation – Spring 2014

On June 3rd and 4th, eTV streamed the Red River College 2014 Spring Convocation live from the Centennial Concert Hall to over 400 viewers from around the world. We are proud to be a part of this momentous occasion as we enable friends and family to watch the ceremony from Winnipeg and abroad. The Spring Convocation had viewers from North America, Europe, Asia, South America, Africa, and Australia!

Child and Youth Care Program Information Session

May 30, 2014

eTV streamed the Child and Youth Care Program Information Session on May 28th 2014. The presentation featured information about the field of Child and Youth Care as well as the Child and Youth Care Diploma Program at Red River College. Details about the field and course content were supplemented with alumni testimonials about their current careers and the impact their diploma had on getting them where they are today.
