This schedule of events will help you to connect with the many services and supports available to you as a student at RRC Polytech.

9:30 AM to 10:15 AM: Get Red River Ready! Spaces, Places, and People You Need to Know

Food Services, Campus Living, Commuting and Parking
Join us for an informative session to learn about campus life, commuting, housing, and dining options. The presenters will share valuable tips and tricks to help you navigate your way around campus and make the most of your college experience.

Student Well-Being and Support Services
Join us for a session on student well-being and support services. Learn about the resources available to help you succeed academically and personally.

Security and Safety Measures
The Polytech’s Health and Safety team will present important safety measures like SafeWalk, emergency procedures, and tips for staying safe on and off campus.

Note: Booths run from 10:15 AM to 1:00 PM.

Essentials Booths:

  • Student Association, and Health and Dental: The Student Association booth is where you can learn about the vibrant student community on campus. They provide information on student clubs, organizations, events, and opportunities for involvement and leadership.
  • Student Service Centre: The Student Service Centre booth is your go-to place for any administrative support you may need. They can assist with registration, academic records, student ID cards, and other essential student services.
  • ITS: IT Support is your go-to resource for tech assistance. From resolving software hiccups to network guidance, our experts ensure smooth digital learning. Count on us to keep you connected and empower your academic journey with reliable and responsive support.

Support Services Booths:

  • Accessibility, Advising and Counseling Services: At the Accessibility Services booth, you can learn about accommodations and resources available to students with disabilities. Counselling Services offer confidential support for students dealing with personal, emotional, or psychological challenges.
  • Safety, Health and Security Services: The Safety and Health Services booth provides information on campus safety measures, emergency procedures, and resources for maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all students.
  • Library and Academic Success Centre: The Library booth offers resources, research assistance, and access to various academic materials. The Academic Success Centre provides tutoring support and workshops to enhance your study skills, time management, and academic success.
  • Indigenous Student Support: The Indigenous Student Support booth offers guidance and resources specifically designed to meet the needs of Indigenous students, including cultural programming, academic support, and community engagement opportunities.
  • Campus Well-Being: The Campus Well-Being booth focuses on promoting overall well-being and mental health. They offer resources through sports, fitness, and recreation activities to help students prioritize self-care, stress management, and healthy living.
  • Career Services: Career Services and Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Info Booth: Unlock opportunities, gain real-world experience, and shape your future. Our experts guide you in merging classroom learning with practical skills, ensuring you’re prepared for a dynamic professional journey.
  • Environmental Stewardship and Campus Renewal: Explore a greener future at Red River College’s Environmental Stewardship and Campus Renewal info booth. Discover sustainable initiatives, eco-friendly practices, and innovative campus transformations. Join us in building an environmentally conscious community where every step contributes to a more sustainable tomorrow.
  • International Education: Visit the International Education booth for essential information to help international students adjust to college life in Canada. Our team members are available to assist you with any questions you may have

11:15 AM to 12:00 PM: Choose Your Own Session

The IT Essentials / Tech Corner
Location: Tim Hortons Dining Hall, Roblin Centre, Exchange District Campus

  • IT Essentials: This session provides a guided tour using your RRC Polytech computer account. Learn how to manage your account, use HUB to access Polytech applications, and look for and request help through the Polytech’s IT Solutions Service Desk. A Q&A will follow the presentation.
  • Tech Corner: Explore all things ‘tech’ and set yourself up for College. Drop in, bring your laptop or devices and talk to staff to get hands-on help logging into the various College systems and platforms. We can show you how to reset your College password, navigate through HUB, use LEARN, view your Library account, log into College WIFI, and so much more!

  • As much as starting your journey at RRC Polytech is an exciting time, it can also feel overwhelming and even anxiety-provoking. That is entirely normal – to be both excited and anxious. In this session, you will hear from current students who remember their first day and their first year very well. Come to learn about their experiences, what they wish they would have known about and done a little differently, and what worked well for them and helped make their first year successful.

Work Integrated Learning and Career Services: Preparing to Launch (Your Career!)
Location: Skyfold Classroom, E235, E236 and E237, Manitou a bi Bii daziigae

  • In this session, students will hear from RRC Polytech’s Work-Integrated Learning and Career Services team about the full range of co-op and career support available to students. These include assistance with job search strategies, resume and cover letter writing, interview preparation and much more! Learn how students and graduates seeking work-integrated learning and part-time, full-time, and temporary employment can access personalized support, job postings, on-campus presentations and recruitment initiatives.

Unlocking Your Potential: Strategies for Academic Excellence
Location: P107, Exchange District Campus

  • This session offers valuable resources and support for students aiming to excel academically. The presentation highlights services such as tutoring, writing assistance, and workshops designed to enhance study skills. Attendees will also learn about free technology resources and supports to help students achieve their academic goals. 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM: Journey to Success: Essential Information – International Student-only Session

Once you have arrived in Canada, now what?

Create a plan to settle in Manitoba and prepare for the next steps in your journey to succeed and thrive.

The Centre for International Education and Global Partnerships (CIEGP) will deliver this session about starting your life in Canada, learning winning strategies in and out of the classroom and providing essential Canadian immigration information.

The session will also present Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion learning opportunities on campus and the Intercultural Partnership Program.

This International student-only session is designed to help new international students get a strong start in your RRC Polytech academic program and help you understand what you need to comply with current IRCC regulations and prepare for the next steps in your student journey.
