RRC Polytech Portage Campus values serving the local community, through initiatives and partnerships that improve quality of life and business, while remaining sustainable and committed to Truth and Reconciliation.

Portage Innovation Centre

The Portage Innovation Centre (PIC), located at RRC Polytech Portage Campus, is a space offered rent-free to winners of the Entrepreneur Challenge competition, where innovators and entrepreneurs participate in workshops and pitch their ideas to a panel of judges. In addition, “hot seat” desks are available for the public to rent for short periods of time.

The FabLab Creative Hub

Offered at the PIC, the FabLab is the ultimate maker space where state-of-the-art equipment and cutting-edge tools bring ideas to life. It consists of:

  • Top-of-the-line 3D printers, allowing creative creations, from intricate designs to functional prototypes.
  • High-powered laser engraver, allowing precision engraving and etching on materials such as wood, acrylic and leather.
  • Versatile Cricut Maker 3 machine, allowing precision designing and cutting, from vinyl decals to custom T-shirts.
  • High quality sewing machine, allowing beginners and experts to tackle sewing projects, from intricate stitches to creating custom garments.

The FabLab also provides the following benefits:

  • Expert guidance, offered by a team of skilled instructors.
  • Workshops and events, from hands-on tutorials to expert guest speakers.
  • A collaborative space, allowing for collaboration with like-minded individuals and being part of a dynamic maker community.
  • Open access to the Maker Space, providing an inclusive environment where everyone can explore their creativity.

The cost to use the FabLab and access all materials and consumables is $50 per month.

Entrepreneur Space

Winners of the Entrepreneur Challenge get to use the Entrepreneur Space at no cost for the first six months. The cost is $50 per month for the next six months, then $100 per month beyond that, with the cost incrementing every six months.

The Entrepreneur Space is also available for rent to the public on an as-needed basis.

RRC Polytech campuses are located on the lands of Anishinaabe, Ininiwak, Anishininew, Dakota, and Dené, and the National Homeland of the Red River Métis.

We recognize and honour Treaty 3 Territory Shoal Lake 40 First Nation, the source of Winnipeg’s clean drinking water. In addition, we acknowledge Treaty Territories which provide us with access to electricity we use in both our personal and professional lives.
