Job Search Sessions: Get Job Search Ready with Career Services & ASC – Weeks 2 & 3

The Academic Success Centre (ASC) is partnering with Career Services to provide a comprehensive, interactive workshop series on the development of employment documents and skills for students. The Get Job Search Ready workshops will be delivered throughout July and August starting with the following Week 2 and Week 3 sessions:

Practicing Networking Skills: July 27, 2022 @ 4:00pm

Networking is an important skill for creating both personal and professional connections. In this workshop, you will work on your “elevator pitch” introduction, building the specific language needed for success with this task. You will also discuss and practice ways to initiate conversations in networking situations, and how to ask effective questions to enhance the professional networking experience.

Note: Students are required to attend or watch the recordings of the Week One Career Services workshops before attending the Week Two ASC workshops. Please visit the Get Job Search Ready with Career Services & ASC Learn Shell to view workshop recordings.

Resumes: What Employers Want: August 2, 2022 @ 4:00pm

Having a professional resume can greatly improve the chances of getting the interview. In this presentation, students will obtain information on how to create an effective resume that highlights their skills, is tailored to their target industry, and gets them screened in to the interview!

Cover Letters: What Employers Want: August 3, 2022 @ 4:00pm

Do employers even want cover letters? Yes! Submitting a convincing cover letter to accompany a resume is an important part of the application process. In this presentation, students will learn what a professional cover letter looks like – a cover letter that an employer will actually read!
