Fraud Alert: Job Scams Targeting Students

RRC Polytech Career Services offers personalized support to help students and recent graduates succeed in their job search, and by leveraging our resources, we can help you identify legitimate opportunities and avoid job scams.

Sophisticated job scams often target students with job offers that promise high pay for minimal work. These scams aim to steal personal information or money by offering jobs without an application or interview, asking for payment for training or materials, or requesting the use of personal bank accounts for business transactions. Scammers have become adept at creating professional-looking websites that mimic legitimate companies, making it difficult to discern their authenticity.

To protect yourself, be vigilant and watch for warning signs such as being offered a different position than the one you applied for, being asked to purchase gift cards, training materials and/or other work-related tools, or being promised high pay for easy work.
