Study Permit Extensions and Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) Requirement Clarification
International students applying for an extension of their permits will be required to answer if they have a provincial or territorial attestation letter or meet an exception from submitting a provincial or territorial attestation letter. A PAL is not needed for study permit extensions if:
You’re applying for a study permit extension at the same DLI and level of study* as your current study permit. This includes transfer students who started programs at RRC Polytech in Fall 2024 or earlier.
In the initial questionnaire, you must select:
*Bachelor’s, Diplomas and Certificates are at the same level of study.
On the application page, you must upload a letter explaining your study journey, including:
- When did you start studying.
- In which DLI(s) (if transfer student must mention the previous DLI and RRC Polytech).
- When did you transfer to RRC Polytech and the reason (if transfer student).
- Include transcripts for all studies in Canada (previous DLI and RRC Polytech).
- Include a copy of your current study permit
