Meet the International Student Ambassadors 2024-2025

Each year, a handful of international students are selected to be International Student Ambassadors. Their mission is to promote diversity on campus, provide peer support and share experiences, and assist Red River College Polytechnic programs and services to organize events and activities. It is our pleasure to introduce the Ambassadors for this academic year:

Avish Nagiana

Program of Study: Data Science and Machine Learning, EDC

Country of Origin: India

About me: I am always up for an adventure—whether it’s debugging code, exploring Winnipeg’s food scene, or figuring out why my plants won’t stay alive! You will catch me jamming to music, hunting for the best coffee in town, or cracking jokes that sometimes land. I am super pumped to be an International Student Ambassador this year, and my goal is to make everyone feel like they have got a friend on campus… even if I can’t promise I will be great at directions!

Collins-Longe Olamide Sarah

Program of Study:  Disability and Community Support Program, NDC

Country of Origin: Nigeria

About me: I am passionate about building connections and helping others feel welcomed. I hope to use this opportunity to support new students in navigating their experiences, share insights from my own journey, and foster a strong, inclusive community. In my spare time, I enjoy journaling, trying new foods, and learning about disability history, particularly through an Indigenous lens. I am also passionate about contributing to creating a society where every individual, regardless of their culture, race, fields, background, and abilities, can thrive and participate fully in all aspects of life.

Alma R. Azcorra Aguilar

Program of Study: Business Management, EDC

Country of Origin: Mexico

About me: I feel privileged to live in Canada with my family, where I enjoy nature, exploring new places, the arts, and learning about diverse cultures. This year, I aim to contribute meaningfully to the international student community at RRC, recognizing our collective potential to thrive with the right support.

Patrick Luke Dela Torre

Program of Study: Application Development and Delivery, EDC

Country of Origin: Philippines

About me: I am a Year 1 Term 2 AD&D student who loves to play sports specifically basketball, badminton and volleyball in my free time. I am a very outgoing and approachable person who is willing to help people in need within my capacity. I volunteered at the Red River Ready this year to help students with information they need to prepare for the class ahead or information about the event. I am a Student Intramural Coordinator for the Campus Well-being and run basketball intramurals for them as a volunteer. If anyone is interested in any sports, I have also created the RRC Polytech Sports Club for people to play and learn any sports they are interested in. I am hoping that we can provide the services and the environment that we envision for all of the people of the RRC Polytech community.
