Anti-Racism & You: Becoming an Ally

Anti-Racism Workshop #7: Becoming an Ally

You may be already self-aware of some of your positions of privilege in society. Privilege gives you power, and with power, you have opportunity. You can use this power to be an ally to Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour. In this interactive workshop,* we will focus on how to be an effective ally, some common mistakes allies may make, and how to continue your Allyship journey. During this session, we will share stories and lived experiences with racism told through a series of curated videos, share key concepts and strategies to understand and challenge racism and invite participants to apply these concepts and strategies to their own action plans.

Our goal in the RRC Polytech community is to transform our culture and institution where anti-racism guides our leadership, policies, and actions. Open to all RRC Polytech students, faculty, and staff, a series of Anti-Racism educational workshops are set to take place this Winter 2023 term.

This final workshop of a seven-workshop series will expose the truth that must be acknowledged to honour our full humanity.
