Behavioural Intervention Team

The Behavioural Intervention Team is a diverse team of trained professionals who meet regularly and are committed to promoting a safe and respectful work and learning environment at all campuses of Red River College.

Behavioural Intervention Team can be accessed for consultation about a threatening or disruptive incident or pattern of concerning non-academic behaviour involving a student (e.g., changes in appearance, social withdrawal or isolation, apparent detachment from reality, or inordinate interest in or discussion of violent themes or events).

Reporting Concerns

When reporting concerns to Behavioural Intervention Team, individuals should attempt to provide the following information:

  1. Description of the incident or concerning behaviour
  2. Name of the person they believe to be responsible for the incident or person exhibiting the concerning behaviour
  3. Description of those impacted by the incident or concerning behaviour
  4. Indication of what action has been taken to date (if applicable), including a description of any meetings with the personand any assistance provided, including referrals to supports or resources

Roles

What is the role of Behavioural Intervention Team when a report is received?

  1. Review information provided and develop an action plan to assist and support the members of the College Community affected by the incident or concerning behaviour
  2. Ensure that members of the College Community affected by the incident or concerning behaviour are consultedwhere appropriate and kept informed of the developments within the parameters of confidentiality
  3. Make recommendations to the appropriate Chair/Dean or Disciplinary Authority
  4. Ensure fairness and consistency for the individual(s) responsible for the incident or exhibiting concerning behaviour
  5. Recommend supports for the individual(s) responsible for incident or exhibiting concerning behaviour where appropriate
  6. Take all necessary action relative to the above.
