Thursday, August 22: RPL: When students already know the course content you are ready to teach

When students in your course realize that they know the content do they:

  • Think of it as a good opportunity to relearn the course material? or
  • Wonder if there is another way to get credit for the course?

Please join us at this CLPE drop-in session to discuss prior learning. What is it and how does the RPL process work? Are all courses RPLable? Who conducts the assessments? When should students apply for RPL? Where are the RPL forms? An RPL expert will be available to answer your burning questions!

Date: Thursday, August 22 from 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm

Location: FM71, Centre for Learning and Program Excellence

Friday, August 23: Finding Instructional Materials for My Course in LEARN

Do you have questions about how to find quality online course content to support your students? With the incredible volume of media and information out there, finding ‘stuff’ to use in your courses is much easier, right? Well, maybe not! Copyright restrictions, material costs and simply finding appropriate materials in the sea of content available can make this difficult!

Drop by this session with some of your questions and get advice from an instructional designer who’s done this many times. For example, you could ask about: how to integrate online instructional materials in your course in an effective way, common pitfalls in finding online resources, finding Open Education Resources that are free to use and adapt, or find out about what Creative Commons is really all about.

Date: Friday, August 23 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am

Location: FM71, Centre for Learning and Program Excellence

Do you feel as lost as Alice when it comes to blended learning? Do you have more questions than answers about how to do things like incorporate LinkedIn Learning or use LEARN effectively for content delivery?
