‘Tis the season for Greenspace Management?

December 7, 2011

It was snowing today when I went to visit Greenspace Management students at their brand new Solar Greenhouse at Notre Dame Campus this morning. So what kinds of things are they working on in December? I found them being taught how to make wreaths by R.B. Russell high school students!! The R.B. Russell students have learned these skills through taking vocational courses at R.B. Russell. In turn, the Greenspace Management students were spending time working with these students and teaching them a few things when it comes to horticulture. So it was a win-win situation where everyone learned a few new things and got into the holiday spirit all at the same time!

So what is Greenspace Management all about? Students learn about horticulture and landscape management through excellent hands-on learning opportunities and two six-month work placements. To learn more about this program, go to www.rrc.ca/grn or contact Ruth Rob at 632-2427.
